A documentary about the legendary Metaxas Line forts during World War II. The heroic battles of the Greeks on the Greek-Bulgarian border, against the hitherto invincible Nazi war machine.

A journey from Mount Beles in Serres to Rodopi, to the largest Greek fortification project in modern history: 664 surface works, 12 underground bunkers. 666 surface structures, 6,664 metres, 12,572 metres, and 23,931 metres of communication galleries were constructed in utmost secrecy, so that "Defence to the utmost" could follow, in honour of the words of the commander of Fort Rupel, Lieutenant Colonel George Douratsos: "Forts do not surrender. The fortresses are not surrendered."

Greek Army officers, University Professors, Historians, Researchers narrate and analyse the Battle of the Forts, with the successive waves of bombardment and the successive attempts to take the fortress from the German side and the heroic resistance of the Greek soldiers from the other side.
